The Tale of the Tape

In the light blue corner we have Jack "The Peanut" Carlin. Weighing in at 17lbs 12ozs with a height of 28". Still the undisputed baby-weight champion of his crib. (Sorry the picture of him standing diaper-clad on the scale flexing his arms didn't come out . . . maybe next bout).

We made it through 1/2 a year....

Happy 6 month birthday Jack! Over the weekend Andrew discovered his first 2 teeth (bottom front). It was so wild to see them and feel them.

Andrew and his cousin Susan with Baby Jack and Baby Sarah. Jack rolled over for the first time (from his stomach to his back) in front of all the family. We were so excited, much more than Jack was! Posted by Picasa

In case you can't tell....

I had Carrots for lunch. It was my first food, after the Rice Cereal.

The visit to Luray

We went out to Luray, to the beautiful home and vineyard that Jack and Tina built. It was bittersweet to be out there, especially with Baby Jack.

Jack and Grant BFF

We put Jack and Grant together on the couch and took no less than 100 photos! All was going very well, until Jack let out a yelp that scared the poop out of poor Grant. Quite a verbal child, not unlike his mother. ;)

I'm ready for my close up

Uncle Jason, Michele and Jack

Jason and AM had us over for a wonderful lunch last weekend.

Skillz (Did we use that one already?)

We think this is pretty exciting, but it's most likely an accident, that or . . . our child is a super genius. Jack is feeding himself independent of anyone else, cool huh? Well anyway Mom and Dad thought it was awesome and we spent the better part of an hour trying to capture it on film (or pixels anyway).

Spring! Well Almost...

We had some wonderful warm days here during the past few weeks. So Jack got to sport some of his short sleeve clothes. Too bad it got cold again, but we know Spring is just around the corner.

Patrick and Dali meet Jack

Jack meet our good friends Patrick and Dali over the weekend. Patrick's mom, Carol, hosted a great baby shower for baby girl Hickey who is due 3/9.
Andrew and I thought holding Jack would be good practice. ;)

Dreams do come true

On his 9 week birthday, Jack slept through the night!! Whoo Hoo!! Andrew and I had heard that this could happen but we didn't believe. (Just the night before I was up with him 3 times, so we know this probably won't happen every night, but we're thrilled nonetheless.)
Last night, I feed him around 9pm, had him in his crib by 10pm and he woke us up this morning at 6:30am. Andrew and I were in awe, I was particularly confused thinking when I heard him cry that it was 3am, it took me a minute to understand what had happened. Thank you Jack!

2 Months

Whew! It's been two months. Jack weighs 12lbs-10oz and he's 23.75in long. He's doing great and had his first set of 4 vaccines. He thought the vaccines were awesome and he can't wait for his next series of immunity boosting fun.

Mom and Dad are doing pretty well too though we'd be lying if we said parenthood wasn't challenging. The first 4 weeks of Jack's life were like some bizzare zombie-dream-state. But by week 5 life started returning to normal . . . AHEM . . . the "new normal." That week, Michele and I actually managed to watch 30min of TV together and we could consistently arrive at our appointments within an hour of their scheduled time (Although some of us have never managed time very well). I also think one of us got a shower.

He's smiling a lot, he follows us with his eyes, and every once in awhile you can catch his elusive laugh. And it's true what they say; his smile makes everything worth it.

"718 not 212"

Thanks to Cathy & Roger for the super cool tee shirt. Tomorrow is Jack's 2 month check up. He'll be getting a lot of vaccinations, let's hope he's not too cranky afterwards.

Mom gets trapped in NYC

Andrew was flying solo this weekend since I was up in NYC for Emily's Bridal Shower (picture is of Em's bridal party). And as you all know, even though it's been a very mild winter we got tons of snow on Saturday/Sunday all along the east coast.

Andrew and Jack were on there own doing well until the power went out Sunday morning. Thanks to Jason and AM for coming to rescue the boys. Here's the VA side of the weekend over at Grant's Blog

Jack is 8 weeks old!

We can't believe it - 8 weeks old. He's a big boy now. Over the weekend he started sucking his thumb and discovered TV.

Lounging

Here's our little man lounging in his bouncy chair, notice the fists, he always does that. Watch out he's going to come out swinging!

Swing!

Thanks to Mary (Jack's Beloved Great Godmother) and Ted for this super cool swing.
Thanks to Mary and Ted we can now eat dinner without holding little Jack! Yeah!
Jack loves to be rocked, so I have high hopes for the swing and so far we're thrilled with it.

Yesterday we took a trip to the mall and had a good time. Jack loves the car and the stroller so he's usually pretty good on outings. And thanks to our good friend Brooke S. for showing me the secret very nice place to breastfeed...the Nordstrom Woman's lounge! Of course while feeding Jack there he peed on himself and me! So I guess I might have to start carrying a change of clothes not only for Jack but for me too! :)
